I don’t know why I haven’t written about Dunwich before now. Maybe I secretly wanted to keep it a secret. The truth is, Dunwich is one of my most favourite places in the UK but unbelievably, it is still relatively undiscovered. It is a little gem on the Suffolk Coast and if you are looking to escape the crowds and enjoy the British countryside at its best, it could be the place for you.
The tiny village of Dunwich is located on the Suffolk coast in an area of outstanding natural beauty. It has an extraordinary history but one of the best things about Dunwich is the incredibly rich and beautiful landscape surrounding it. For this reason, it really is best explored on foot.
Walberswick is, without a doubt, one of England’s most idyllic seaside villages. This quaint Georgian holiday village dishes out traditional British seaside charm in bucket loads. And while we’re talking of buckets, make sure to pack your bucket and spade because unlike most of the beaches in Suffolk, Walberswick beach has sand!
